Annette Funicello was 13 years aged when she was noticed by the head of studio Walt Disney dancing in an amateur production of Swan Lake in Fullerton California. Funicello's Mickey Mouse Club teammates were furious after Funicello became part of the cast in season 1 of the show, without having to audition. Disney was right to make this decision, as Funicello was quickly the main character on The Mickey Mouse Club. Additionally, she wrote her own adventure story entitled Adventures in Dairyland. Soon it was obvious that Funicello had to record for her to maximize her talent as a teenager performer, and although Annette did not seem to be very happy with her ability to sing, Disney engaged established arranger Tutti Camerata to guide her career as a recording artist. Funicello became comfortable with making records and loved working with Camerata. He was one of a few that were arranging at 40 who understood the fundamentals of early rock. Annette Sings Anka - her third album, was the first album to utilize the songs of the rock star as part of her selection of songs. Funicello was the lead in Beach Party, one of five movies about a beach party that were immensely successful. Most often, the film starred Frankie Avalon, these films are produced by AIP but the scripts for each movie have been individually reviewed and approved by Walt Disney to maintain Annette's pure image. The film cars of Funicello were used to make other artists break. Stevie Wonder was in Muscle Beach Party.
